What is a natal chart
A natal chart is the photograph of the sky at the exact moment and place of your birth. It shows where the Sun, the Moon and the planets were, and how they were arranged in relation to one another.
It is the starting map of astrology: from here you read character, talents, challenges and the timing of life. Unlike the daily horoscope, which applies to a whole sign, the natal chart is unique and describes only you.
To calculate it you need three pieces of information: the date, the time and the place of birth. Time and place are what let you establish the ascendant and the twelve houses, that is, where each energy acts in your life.
Planets, signs and houses
A natal chart is read by crossing three ingredients. The planets say what: the Sun identity, the Moon emotions, Mercury the mind, Venus love, Mars action, and so on up to the slow planets.
The zodiac signs say how: they colour the energy of each planet with their style, from Aries to Pisces. The twelve houses say where: in which area of life, from relationships to work, from home to money, that energy shows itself.
The aspects, finally, are the angles between the planets and say how they talk to each other: some flow smoothly, others create tension and a push toward change.
The ascendant and why time matters
The ascendant is the sign that was rising in the east at the exact moment you were born. It shifts by a degree every few minutes, which is why the birth time matters so much: it is what anchors the chart to the precise time and place.
Together with the Sun, which represents the underlying identity, and the Moon, which represents the inner world, the ascendant forms the triad of the natal chart: the three points it is always best to start the reading from.

You never start from a single detail, but from the whole. First the triad, Sun, Moon and ascendant; then the personal planets in their signs and houses; finally the aspects, which show where your energy is harmonious and where instead friction arises.

Is the natal chart free?
Yes. The chart calculation, the wheel, the tables and the readings of planets in signs and houses are free forever, and so is the current sky with transits. Only the full interpreted reading, the written report, is paid, together with the Bazi and Vedic astrology tools. No card is needed for the natal chart.
Do I need my exact birth time?
For the full picture, yes. The ascendant and the twelve houses depend on the precise time and place: a few minutes are enough to shift them. The positions of the planets in the signs, on the other hand, change much more slowly, so they stay reliable even with an approximate time.
What if I do not know my birth time?
You can still calculate the positions of the planets in the signs, which already tell a great deal about your character. What will not be reliable is the ascendant and the division into houses. If you need the exact time, you usually find it on your birth certificate or at the registry of the town where you were born.
What is the ascendant?
It is the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth. It describes how you present yourself to the world and the atmosphere others meet when they first encounter you. Together with the Sun and the Moon it forms the so-called triad, the core of the natal chart.
How is it different from the Matrix or numerology?
